Anonymous said: Rob Van Damn or Jeff Hardy?

Jeff Hardy was super cool to watch cause he was such a spot king, but he was also a one trick pony and wasn’t a very good wrestler. RVD on the other hand is a great wrestler on top of doing all the crazy spots. RVD all the way. I’m also a sucker for Paul Heyman guys.

Anonymous said: are you all vegans? what's Scott's reason for being vegan? he's the only on who I know is for sure

Just I am. This is actually very strange because an hour ago I was asked by Mark (the guy who is recording vocals/mixing our record and fellow vegan) what I typically say when people ask me if I’m vegan. I usually told them that I ignored or stopped talking to them because it typically came from a person who had ulterior motivation. If the person is genuinely curios I would say, “I don’t want to support an industry that 1) tortures and slaughters billions of sentient beings for profit and/or personal pleasure and 2) is one of the leading causes in the deterioration of the environment.

It’s a personal choice that every person needs to make for themselves but you’d have a hard time convincing me that someone who isn’t vegan, or at the very least has curbed their meat intake, isn’t a selfish dickhead.

A Word (or a few) About The 8/20 Openers

Hey! We’re gonna keep reminding you about our Mac’s Bar show on August 20th until the day of the show. The show is going to be awesome and we want to prove it to you. Today you get to read about the other bands playing the show and why we chose them to play and why you should care about them!

Opening up the show will be a band from Lansing called Fisherking. Their music is best described as Comeback Kid-esque hardcore. They don’t play shows very often so it’s really cool that we got them to play with us at this show. Check out their full length, Ghost to get an idea of what they’re all about (Fun fact: this was almost released on Scott’s label, Triple Deke, but at the last minute the band ended up just doing it themselves and releasing it digitally with a small amount of CDs). Jacob from Homelife is also in this band now which is cool since they’re another band we used to play with quite a bit.

After them will be a new band called Absolute Boyfriend. They are made up of current-and-ex members of Wayne Szalinski as well as Danny from Small Parks and Summerpunx. From what I’ve been told their music is surfy indie pop. Knowing the members of the band I know it’s going to be great. Andrew and Ian have or currently live(d) at Hariet Brown, one of our favorite houses to play, and where this show originally was going to be.

Listen: Nowhere :(

Up next is The Most Dangerous Animal. For a little while Scott was playing guitar with these guys. He’s on a couple tracks on their debut full length, Time Heals All Wounds, and played with them when they opened up for Ceremony at Mac’s Bar last fall. They’re a melodic hardcore band with indie rock tendencies. Most of the band used to play in a band called Downers which is one of Scott’s favorite Michigan bands ever. We’re working on setting up a split with them to come out once our full length is out later this year. There aren’t enough good words to say about them. Oh, and Mohnish, their guitarist, recorded the song “Custer” for us and will be doing some more recording for us in the future.

The final band before us is The Fever Haze. We’ve been praising this band for years and it’s awesome to finally see so many other people recognizing their greatness. If you haven’t already please go listen to our split with them as well as their brand new full length, I’ll Be In The Same Place You Left Me (Both out on Triple Deke). They blend current indie/emo with classic rock to make their own unique sound. They just finished up a Midwest tour and are starting to make a name for themselves regionally as well.

As you can see this show is full of friends and people who are all a part of the gigantic extended Secret Grief family. We really hope that you feel a part of that family as well and choose to join us.

Full Details: Wednesday, August 20th. Mac’s Bar - 2700 E. Michigan Ave - Lansing, MI. Doors at 7pm. $8. Pre-Sale tickets available from Fusion Shows.

Anonymous said: you guys should reprint the Ron Swanson shirts but w the new name I would totally buy one. you should get more shirts in general tbh

Hmmmm. I think we discussed retiring that design for good. We’ll see what ends up happening. I agree that we need more shirts. Unfortunately we don’t make much money and all of it right now is tied up into paying for recording.
