Tomorrow! Cool show. It’s the last one we have scheduled at the moment. Could be your last chance to see us in 2014. Come hangout. All the bands rule.

Last night while driving back from our show Corey pointed out to me that we were going to be the last band to play a set/song at Lemonjello’s. This hit me really hard. I am by no means a West Michigan native but I do like to think that I am one of its adopted sons. Over the past three years I’ve got to spend a lot of time in and around the West Michigan music scene and no place or community has had an impact on me quite like Lemonjello’s has.

The first time I played a show at Lemonjello’s with Tiger! Tiger! was years before the band had any association with Corey, Shawn, Kam, and Derek. Our friends in the band Ender always told us about how great it was and that we needed to play there. So we did. It was cool and fun but never quite the grand experience that I was promised. Nonetheless, the allure of Lemonjello’s stuck in my mind.

Years later, after the great reassembly of Tiger! Tiger! and the band becoming based out of West Michigan, I returned to Lemonjello’s and every show since then has been incredible. I can’t think of one single dud. Some were better than others but they all had this certain magic in the air that I have never felt anywhere else. Whenever we hit the “stage” at Lemonjello’s it was special; it meant something.

This was strongly due to the constant support from the entire Lemonjello’s staff. Lead by our dear friend Mike Greene and Matt, the store owner, they made us feel welcomed, important, wanted. The list is endless. This community aspect of Lemonjello’s is and will always be one of my favorite parts and Fortunately it will remain.

Tonight is only an end to the live music aspect at Lemonjello’s. They will still be staying open for business as a coffee shop. So please join us as we help close one chapter of their history and begin a new one. We’re honored to be playing at LJ’s one last time with some of our best friends. The show starts at 6pm but get there early and get some vegan chili before it’s all gone.

XOXO,

Scott // Secret Grief

We have a couple shows around Michigan this weekend. Both with our best pals in Runaway Brother.

Friday we’re playing in Big Rapids with KOJI. Details can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/events/547139015396298/

Saturday we’re playing at Lemonjello’s in Holland for their last show ever. Please be there. If you’ve followed our band at all you know how much LJ’s means to us. They’ll still be open but we want to help make their last show before getting rid of live music a truly memorable night. Details can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/events/854792524531787/

Happy to announce two brand new releases and one updated version of an old release!

First up is the premier release in what we hope to be a long series of 4-way splits that we’re going to be putting out. This split features brand new tracks from Reservoir, Summerpunx, Runaway Brother, and Secret Grief. Every track is exclusive to this release and represents each band’s unique take on “indie”, “emo”, “punk”, or whatever you want to call it. The releases is limited to 318 copies on Random Colored Vinyl (13 different variants!) You can download the entire split on our Bandcamp Page and pre-order a 7” on our Storenvy Page.

Next up is a cassette release of Onward an EP released earlier this year by Brighton, Michigan’s Parkway & Columbia. Parkway & Columbia is a young band with no members over the age of 20. Despite this they already have multiple releases under their belt. Onward is the band’s best work yet and features five tracks of laid back and texture-laden indie rock that combines male and female vocals to create an atmospheric world for the listener to get lost in. The cassette release is limited to 50 copies on clear/black tape. You can pre-order the cassette on our Storenvy Page and download the tracks from our Bandcamp Page.

Finally up is a new cover for the I Salsa Your Face/Hayford 7” originally released by Tiger! Tiger!. This update is long overdue and the new cover features a new perspective on the old artwork and of course replaces “Tiger! Tiger!” with “Secret Grief”. This cover option is limited to 100 copies. You can pre-order the new version on our Storenvy Page as well as download the tracks off of our Bandcamp Page.

In addition to these new releases we have added some distro items to our online store. This includes shirts from Small Parks and Secret Grief, Small Parks and Hampshire CDs, and some other goodies that you can find.

"Scandinavian Casual" by Secret Grief

We sat on James’ couch talking about our ex-lovers and friends and I thought to myself how I wish I could let go of all these things I can’t control.

I don’t need help with remembering but I’d like to be able to forget all my faults.

If only for one night I could dismiss this feeling of dismay and hollowness.

Sometimes I feel destined to be alone because I’ve broken everything I’ve ever loved.

Pre-Order the 4-way split 7” on vinyl here and stream/download the entire thing here

Get on ordering this. Reblog and tell a friend or 99!
